Our team includes certified rehabilitation practitioners, licensed veterinary technicians, and specialists in post-surgical recovery, pain management, and end-of-life care. Their experience directly informs how protocols are developed, how devices are used, and how pet owners are supported.

Chris Cranston, MPT, CCRP

Clinical Focus: Physical therapy, Arthritis management, orthopedic injuries, mobility, neurological conditions, geriatrics, IVDD

Chris Cranston has over 23 years of hands-on experience in small animal physical rehabilitation and has been at the cutting edge of treatments, including the use of red light therapy. She is the co-host of the PetAbility Podcast™– a leading podcast focused on mobility, recovery, and quality of life for pets.

Chris began her career as a physical therapist for people before bringing her expertise into veterinary physical rehabilitation. In 2004, she became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner through the University of Tennessee, one of the first 100 professionals worldwide to earn this certification. She earned a Master of Physical Therapy and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Iowa.

Over the years, Chris built and ran a successful mobile rehabilitation practice, worked closely with general and specialty veterinary clinics, and launched the physical rehabilitation service for a large multi-specialty and emergency veterinary organization in the Greater Boston area.

She later founded FlowDog, an independent, full-service small animal physical rehabilitation clinic in Waltham, Massachusetts. In 2017, Chris sold FlowDog to the esteemed Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA, but continues to perform concierge in-home physical rehab services, consulting, teaching, and other entrepreneurial pursuits.

Since 2018, Chris has played a key role at MedcoVet, contributing across clinical, product development, and operational efforts. Her work has included beta testing early-stage devices with her patients at FlowDog, leading professional networking initiatives, and helping shape the integrative app interface through valuable real-world clinical insights. She has also provided strategic recommendations to the executive team and currently consults with pet owners to assess whether the Luma device may benefit their pets, while leading and supporting MedcoVet’s clinician team.

Chris recently relocated to the New England coast and loves her new lifestyle and close-knit community found through walking her twin Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Julep & Baxter, and pickleball!

Marilyn J. Jerome, M.S., LVT

Clinical Focus: Critical care, emergency medicine, complex case management, clinical operations

Marilyn J. Jerome, M.S., LVT, is a licensed veterinary technician with over 25 years of clinical experience in Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology, her career began with a decade of active clinical work in emergency and intensive nursing care.

While at BluePearl Pet Hospital, she also spent many years partnering with veterinarians of Internal Medicine, Oncology, Neurology, Dermatology and Critical Care to deliver specialty care. Highlights of her career include her key role in running mobile spay/neuter clinics within the five boroughs in NYC, intensive high-level monitoring of ventilated patients, and the intake and medical operations of a rescue organization.

In addition to her clinical experience, she also obtained a Masters of Science degree in Health Informatics from National University. These technical and operational graduate studies were then applied during her tenure as Medical and Practice Manager at veterinary and dental organizations, respectively.

Marilyn is passionate about creative thinking to deliver successful clinical care and operational harmony. She is passionate about utilizing her years of clinical experience to aid in positive therapeutic outcomes.

Cathy Symons, CVT, CCRP, CHPT

Clinical Focus: Senior pets, hospice care, palliative care, physical rehabilitation

Cathy Symons, CVT, CCRP, CHPT, is an accomplished veterinary professional and author with over 35 years of experience dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for animals through veterinary care, canine rehabilitation, and hospice and palliative support.

Cathy began her career at Angell Animal Medical Center. During her time there, she served as Assistant Supervisor of the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Department, gaining extensive experience in diagnostic imaging and specialized patient care.

After 15 years in clinical practice as a veterinary technician, Cathy pursued advanced education in canine rehabilitation at the University of Tennessee. In 2003, she became one of the first thirty-six individuals worldwide to earn certification as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP).

Shortly thereafter, she played a key role in establishing the Sterling Impression Animal Rehabilitation Center of New England, one of the foremost veterinary rehabilitation centers in the United States. Cathy also has a special interest in avian medicine, having worked with notable avian and exotic veterinarians.

With a strong interest in end-of-life care, Cathy began her coursework with the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care. In August 2024, she earned the title of Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Technician (CHPT), blending her extensive medical knowledge with rehabilitation and compassionate end-of-life support.

In addition to her clinical work, Cathy is a respected educator and mentor within the veterinary community, sharing her expertise through lectures, workshops, and mentorship programs. She is widely known for her empathy, technical skill, and ability to build strong relationships with both pets and their caregivers, providing guidance during challenging and emotional times.

Cathy is the co-host of the PetAbility Podcast, a highly ranked, must-hear podcast for pet owners seeking access to the latest information on pet quality of life and longevity.

Cathy is also an accomplished author. Her first book, Blind Devotion: Enhancing the Lives of Blind and Visually Impaired Dogs, is a leading resource for owners of dogs with visual loss. She is also the author of the children’s book Watching Out for Digger, which serves as an educational tool to help young children understand life with a blind dog. She is currently working on her third book, Senior Dogs: Maintaining Mobility and Independence, continuing her lifelong mission to improve the lives of aging and special-needs pets.

Kristy Williams, CVT, CCFT

Clinical Focus: Surgery, anesthesia, canine fitness, injury prevention, agility

Kristy Williams brings over 30 years of experience to the veterinary field. Her career began in the 1990s, working as a civilian for the Army Veterinary Corps at RAF Feltwell in England, where she first discovered her passion for animal care and supporting their families. Upon returning to the United States, Kristy pursued her education and graduated in 2005 as a certified veterinary technician after passing the national exam. She has since gained extensive experience in both general practice and emergency/referral practices.

Kristy’s particular passion within the field lies in surgery, specializing in complex anesthesia and both orthopedic and soft tissue procedures. She also worked in a busy emergency room and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Woburn, MA. In 2008, Kristy was a key part of the three-person team that successfully launched a general practice in Billerica, MA, which quickly grew into a large, busy clinic.

Serving as a technician and manager, her consistent goal was to ensure the practice maintained a personalized, “small-feel” environment where every client and pet felt like the top priority.

Outside of her veterinary work, Kristy has a long history as a dog trainer, starting with teaching puppy and basic obedience classes in the 1990s at the same military base where her veterinary career began. She continues to help new puppy owners navigate this exciting and often stressful time.

Furthering her expertise, Kristy earned her Certification in Canine Fitness through the University of Tennessee in 2020. She now works with owners of both sporting and non-sporting dogs to maintain their pets’ peak physical condition and aid in injury prevention.

Kristy currently shares her life with three dogs—Gronk, a 12.5-year-old Cavachon; Kayak, a 6-year-old Border Collie; and Lu, a 2-year-old Border Collie—all of whom have competed or are training to compete in agility sports. She also has a 16-year-old cat named Mia.

Alon Landa, CEO and Co-Founder

Focus: Translating clinical insight and technology into accessible, at-home treatment solutions

Alon Landa is the CEO and co-founder of MedcoVet, where he leads the development of cutting-edge veterinary technologies that help pets heal at home. With first-hand experience working alongside veterinarians, pet owners, and clinical researchers, Alon played a key role in creating Luma, an at-home red and infrared light therapy device (PBM) designed to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing in pets.

Driven by a deep belief in accessible, evidence-based care, Alon has spent years helping pet parents navigate the challenges of recovery after injury, surgery, or chronic pain—often working directly with them to optimize treatment plans and outcomes. His insights are grounded in real-world application.

Before founding MedcoVet, Alon spent over two decades leading innovative technology companies in industries ranging from medical devices and satellite systems (including GPS and the Hubble Space Telescope) to internet media and pet health. He even created PupReady, a digital platform that helps new dog owners prepare for life with a puppy, another example of his commitment to practical solutions for pet wellbeing.

Alon holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and is a member of the ETA Kappa Nu honor society. He also holds an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. This foundational education has equipped him with both the technical knowledge and business strategy needed to bring high-quality pet healthcare solutions to market.

Today, Alon writes regularly about photobiomodulation therapy, pet recovery, and home-based health solutions on MedcoVet , combining expert knowledge with lived experience to help pet owners make informed decisions. He lives in Boston, Massachusetts, and continues to champion better mobility, comfort, and quality of life for pets everywhere.

Andrew Gibson, CTO

Focus: Building and maintaining the technology systems that power the MedcoVet platform and device ecosystem

Andrew Gibson is the CTO at MedcoVet and the person responsible for making sure all of the company’s technology actually works—and works together. His scope covers pretty much everything: backend, mobile apps, frontend, cloud infrastructure, device firmware, CRM, integrations… if it has code (or breaks), it usually ends up on his plate.

He has 15+ years of experience, a Master of Science in Computer Science, and a very hands-on approach—designing architecture, building prototypes, fixing bugs, and coordinating a distributed team of developers and contractors.

Andrew joined MedcoVet in 2019 as a part-time iOS developer. After seeing the early version of the app (built by Alon himself), his reaction was “F*** my eyes”—followed by a strong recommendation to rebuild it. He then went ahead and did exactly that, setting the foundation for the platform the company runs on today.

Before MedcoVet, Andrew spent eight years at Muse Group working on products used by millions of musicians worldwide, including the Ultimate Guitar app and Tonebridge. He helped scale core features, introduced data-driven experimentation, and learned how to build products “up to eleven” — the idea that if 10 is the highest setting on the knob, you find a way to go past it anyway.

He’s lived in three countries (still catching up to Brittney), is currently based in Belgrade, Serbia, and plays volleyball as a middle blocker. Outside of work, he plays Magic: The Gathering and recently became a father—his newest and most unpredictable long-term project.

Brittney Martinson, COO

Focus: Operations, Customer Success, Organic Marketing

Brittney Martinson is the Chief Operating Officer at MedcoVet, where she focuses on building the systems that connect clinical insight with real-world use. Her work centers on operational strategy, customer experience, and scaling in a way that is both practical and sustainable.

She brings over ten years of experience in operational leadership across startup environments, with a track record of scaling bootstrapped companies to profitability and supporting successful acquisitions.

Prior to MedcoVet, Brittney operated as a “COO as a service” through Be Limitless, where she worked with early-stage and growth-stage companies to build systems for scalability, efficiency, and profitability. Her work involved developing turnkey operational frameworks, implementing automation and outsourcing strategies, and simplifying complex business processes to support sustainable growth.

She has also held executive and senior operational roles across multiple industries. As COO at Replaceable Media, she led the development and execution of standard operating procedures while ensuring compliance with FINRA and SEC regulatory requirements, including policy development, training, reporting, monitoring, and enforcement.

At Terminal 49, a logistics company, she led operations and customer success, overseeing cross-functional workflows and ensuring consistency across the organization.

As Head of Client Success at Leverage, she focused on performance metrics and customer experience, driving a 61.89% reduction in churn and a 169.84% increase in customer lifetime value through improvements in onboarding and retention systems.

At MedcoVet, her focus is on building systems that make clinically grounded care accessible, usable, and effective for pet owners at home.

She holds a B.S. in International Business (with a concentration in Entrepreneurship) and a B.S. in Retail Marketing and Fashion Merchandising from Johnson & Wales University, graduating summa cum laude.

Brittney has lived in over 68 countries and is currently based in Canada with her husband, their corgi Charlie, cat Olive, and chickens.

Atilio Valderrama, Operations Associate

Focus: Administrative Support, Pet Parent Communication, and Operational Coordination

Atilio Valderrama provides administrative and operational support at MedcoVet, helping coordinate communication and daily workflows across the clinical team, pet parents, the executive team, and external partners. His responsibilities include payment processes, general inquiries, internal follow-up, and the many operational details that help keep the organization running smoothly.

He also supports communication with affiliated clinics, veterinary professionals, and other partners connected to MedcoVet’s work. By helping maintain consistency across these moving parts, Atilio contributes to a more organized experience for both pet parents and the team. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and French, and shares his home with Draco, his husky puppy.

Dr. Ronald Hirschberg, Medical Reviewer

Focus: Administrative Support, Pet Parent Communication, and Operational Coordination

Dr. Ronald Hirschberg has been the long term hospital director of the Brockton Animal Hospital, in Brockton, Massachusetts. He came to the hospital after graduating from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and served as medical director for more than 30 years. During his tenure, Dr. Hirschberg developed the facility into a full service hospital emphasizing surgery as well as medicine. His areas of interest include orthopedics, ophthalmology, dermatology, and Photobiomodulation or Red Light Therapy (previously known as Low Level Laser Therapy).

He is a recognized authority on Photobiomodulation and its application in companion animal medicine. His treatment protocols have been adopted for use by several light device practitioners and manufacturers. Dr. Hirschberg was invited to sit on a multi-day task force at the World Association of Photobiomodulation (WALT) international meeting in Nice, France in 2018 in an effort to create standardized protocols for several medical conditions.

His speaking engagements have included WALT (World Association of Laser Therapy), NAALT (North American Association of Laser Therapy), ASLMS (American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery) as well as many other national and international conferences. In 2012 he created an Educational Outreach Initiative, the purpose of which was to create broader opportunities to educate veterinarians and veterinary students as to the science and clinical application of Photobiomodulation. He has presented a CE approved course at many veterinary colleges throughout the United States, including Cornell University, Ohio State, University of California at Davis, Michigan State University and Auburn University, to name a few. He has written and published numerous articles and book chapters, on the application of Photobiomodulation in Veterinary Medicine, with particular emphasis on the treatment of Chronic Kidney (Renal) Disease.
